Tiny Kikyo Necklace

$32

This pendant was hand cut from silver sheet. The flower design is based on the kikyo, or Japanese balloon flower.

The flower was forged to be slightly concave and a deep black patina was added. A glowing white pearl has been peg-set in the center.

Pendant measure approximately 1/2 inch in diameter and hangs from a 16 inch long sterling silver chain.

Handmade in Portland, Oregon.

***In Japan the balloon flower is called Kikyo, meaning "Pentagram." The pentagram is a "balloon flower seal" with mystical significance, an important symbol in Taoism because each of the five bellflower petals represents the "five elements" of the Tao, namely wood, fire, earth, metal, & water.
