About Us
A word from Rita Hudson-Evalt, Owner and Designer
Here in Portland, we strive to improve every day in whatever way we can; whether it’s an outfit that transitions from work to happy hour, a great meal, or soulful music at a local venue. It’s collaborative, exciting, and heartfelt. Union Rose has been part of that equation since 2007.
By supporting local design, manufacturing, and artisan craft, you help support a healthy and vibrant economy, sustainably ensuring a unique and local perspective in our fashion landscape- which we sorely need these days. You’ll fall in love with the stories of our products, which come from designers and artisans who work hard to create a worthwhile piece for you to enjoy for years to come.
As a designer myself, I know the commitment it takes to bring a thought into reality. I focused my creativity on fashion while in college at Parsons School of Design and Oregon State University. Then I discovered while working at boutiques that a lot of styles just didn’t look good on my body, and the sizes were often small. I was trying to sell clothing that I couldn’t wear myself!
So, I put my training to use, and made myself a shirt to wear to work. And then, I made them for other people of all sizes and shapes. That turned into my clothing line, and it still excites my passion for beautiful, comfortable clothing that’s made for every woman.
The thing I love most about being a part of Union Rose is that I get to help people feel great every day! We all know that feeling of slipping into an outfit that makes you feel energetic and happy to get out into the world, and that’s a feeling I want all of our customers to have each morning.
With so much love- Rita
